Cheshire Farming Event at Ashley Hall Showground, part of Tatton Estate

Another of Cheshire’s hidden treasures – have you ever been to the Cheshire Ploughing and Hedgelaying competition?  View age old traditions and cutting edge techniques hosted by the Tatton Estate this Wednesday 28th September 2016 at Ashley Hall Showground WA14 3QA.  Walking distance from Ashley Station on the Chester to Manchester line, and close to Altrincham Metrolink and bus station.  Lots of locally sourced food and drink on site so come and spend the day, the competition starts at 10am and the site is open 9am to 5pm.  £10 admission, free to children in full time education, free parking.

 

In 2015 94 tractors, 8 pairs of working horses and 45 hedgelayers competed to show their talent.

 

The Cheshire Ploughing and Hedgelaying Society established the competition 100 years ago and now run training courses in ploughing and hedgelaying in the winter months.
