TEM Locations, on behalf of client, the Tatton Estate have been delighted to host the BBC/ZDF for the filming of The Worst Witch, made by CBBC Productions and co-produced with ZDF.  The Worst Witch is a fantastic and ambitious re-imagining of the much-loved Jill Murphy books about Mildred Hubble, who is catapulted quite literally head first into Miss Cackle’s Academy For Witches.  The collaboration between CBBC, Netflix and ZDF has allowed for a budget far beyond that usually spend on children’s television programmes. With special effects designed by the Doctor Who team and a school set in a castle to rival Hogwarts, has much of the allure of Harry Potter.

Ashley Hall Showground is just one of many projects undertaken by the Tatton Estate creating local jobs, supply chain benefits and local investment.  The Estate is responsible for several thousand acres of land and around 500 residential and commercial properties. Over 1,000 people live and work in their farms, residential properties and commercial buildings and they were thrilled the BBC/ZDF chose their stunning Ashley Hall Showground site for filming. The Estate works hard to conserve and maintain some of Cheshire’s best historical assets, including the Peover Estate, buildings such as the Town Hall, now Lost & Found in Knutsford and the villages of Rostherne and Bostock Green.  Their work reaches far beyond just bricks and mortar. Family owned, they have deep roots in the local community and are determined to secure the area’s long term legacy. The Estate plays an active role in nearly all aspects of local life and support a large number of community initiatives, providing over 100 acres of sports, recreation, public open space and community facilities.”
